Faith and Reason (1996)

Cobb depicts two women in this compelling work. Mrs. Sandra Soliz represents “Faith.” She is open, accepting, and contemplative—her hands folded in prayer. Cleo Cobb McCee is “Reason.” She is a teacher and is John’s mother. She is thoughtful, penetrating, and lifts her glasses to get a better look. Who is in the foreground?

Both faith and reason are necessary for men to know God. These two aspects of our thinking must flow together. But only Faith has a halo. Why?
